Pre-Orientation
Begin your college career with Kaplan Pre-orientation!
Students accepted into the Kaplan Humanities Scholars Program are invited to participate in the Kaplan Pre-Orientation program: an all-expense paid, three-day introduction to the humanities in Chicagoland!
The Kaplan Scholars Pre-Orientation is designed to foster student engagement with some of the best cultural programs on offer in the area—and through experiential learning—to begin participating in Kaplan's intellectual conversations. It's also a great start to developing friendships with fellow Kaplan Scholars.
- Program dates: Saturday, September 6 - Monday, September 8, 2025
- Early Move-In! Pre-Orientation participants move into their university housing for the year three days earlier than the rest of the incoming class! Move-in is scheduled from 8 am - 12 noon on Saturday, September 6
- The cost of housing, all excursions, and all meals while on the Pre-Orientation program are covered by the Kaplan Humanities Institute
- Enrollment: Students accepted into the Kaplan Humanities Scholars Program will be invited to participate in Pre-Orientation after they are accepted. Participation in Pre-Orientation is completely optional, though once a Scholar commits to it, we consider it a binding agreement to participate in all activities
Past Pre-Orientation excursions have included destinations such as Steppenwolf Theatre, Ravinia Festival, The Second City-Chicago, Chicago Botanic Garden, The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center, Garfield Park Conservatory, Music Box Theatre, the American Writers Museum, and much, much more!
